Delivered this commissioned painting today to Without Pier Gallery in Melbourne. Commissions are always tricky because you never know if the painting is going to meet the customer’s expectations. Quite by chance the couple who had commissioned the work arrived while we were there. They admired the painting, leaning against the wall, on their way in, not realising it was for them. They were genuinely delighted when they found out it was theirs. These are the moments that make a painter’s life worthwhile.
